Bespoke New Roof - Oaklea, Chester-le-Street
Project Overview
We were approached by the client with approved plans and drawings for a new build with a unique roofing requirement.
The project was to install a new roof to a newly built timber framed property. As this was a bespoke build all materials were supplied by the client.
Project Details
After meetings with the client and their building contractors. A start date was agreed and scaffolding was erected. Once the timber frame was completed on the roof we commence work installing the breathable felt membrane containing tightness ad vertical laps. Treated timber counter battens were fixed before 38mmx25mm treated brash BS5534 battens were fitted with the correct guage and fixings.
New Laventham clay plain tiles were layered and secured with double nailed brash batten at every 5 courses including the eave tiles. Gables tiles were fixed up to verges, valley and hips. Valley tiles were used to all valleys to maximise visual impact.
Laventham half round ridge tiles and bonnet hip tiles were bedded to existing plain tiles with a strong mortar mix.
Project Outcomes:
Despite the freezing winter weather and high winds, the project was completed on time. Some additional labour time was need due to client making late changes to the original plan.
